MUSCAT
— Jebel Shams recorded the season’s coldest night at -7 degrees Celsius
yesterday, even as other parts of the Sultanate continued to see drop in
temperatures with Nizwa recording 8 degrees Celsius and Muscat 13 degrees
Celsius. Saiq in Al Dhakhiliyah recorded 4 degrees Celsius.
“We have ever seen this worst cold weather and this year is the most horrible season for us,” said Saif al Hutali, a resident of Jebel Shams.
“Even the water from the taps is frozen, and we are finding it difficult to get water. We have to heat the ice to get water for drinking. It is even difficult for us to cook as the supply of gas in the pipes is affected due to extreme cold weather,” he rued.
Meanwhile, the weather department said that stable weather will prevail over the country with relatively cooler nights over most of the Sultanate.
Moderate northeasterly winds can be experienced over Musandam Governorate and the coastal area of Oman Sea and the southeastern coast.
