Zanzibar — ZANZIBAR Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has announced another mass immunisation programme against measles -rubella in the islands.
The immunization programme, dubbed 'Integrated Measles- Rubella Vaccination Campaign,' begins next Saturday. Mr Yussuf Makame Haji, the campaign manager, said the exercise, which will last till October 24 is the implementation of government plans to improve the health of children in the islands.
"We hope to meet the target of immunizing 95 per cent of children aged between one day and 15 years. The children will get measles, rubella, vitamins A, and anti worms' drops," Mr Haji said.
The medical staff appealed to parents to bring their children, including those who have already undergone vaccination in the past, to the nearest vaccination centre.
"We are urging parents to participate in the mass measles-rubella campaign from the 18th to the 24th of October, this year," said Mr Haji.
