Reacting to Chadema’s operation yesterday, the secretary for the Sengerema MP, Mr Peter Ngelela, said: “We are with God.”
Mwanza. Main Opposition Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) has launched what it terms as Operation Tigitigi aimed at unseating the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) MPs in the lake zone regions.
The operation started in Sengerema Constituency where the MP on the ticket of the ruling party is Mr William Ngeleja.
Reacting to Chadema’s operation yesterday, the secretary for the Sengerema MP, Mr Peter Ngelela, said: “We are with God.”
Mr Ngelela said the operation was not a threat to them because they believed that God will help them to retain the constituency come the October elections. “Let them (Chadema) continue with their operation. The people will decide who to vote for,” said Mr Ngelela.
He added that what Chadema was doing will not change the mind of voters.
Efforts to get Mr Ngeleja for comment were not successful yesterday.
Sengerema District CCM secretary Mohamed Shaaban was not ready to comment on Chadema’s operation.
Operation Tigitigi started last week when Chadema’s Geita Regional chairman Alphonce Mawazo declared his intention to vie for the Sengerema parliamentary seat.
Mr Mawazo used a helicopter to address rallies in a number of villages in Sengerema Constituency where he said the Tigitigi operation was aimed at taking over the constituency. He said the operation was also aimed at unseating the CCM MP for Busanda Constituency, Ms Lolensia Bukwimba.
