This family with a housemaid collecting urine should not be worried. The collection may be for therapy. If the housemaid was collecting excreta, that would have been a great problem, but urine is harmless, as 95% of it is water.
Definitely the maid is very poor and cannot afford professional care in a medical centre!
A former prime minister of India drank his own urine as a form of alternative medicine and he was not poor. Morarji Desai, the Indian leader from 1977-1979, even was interviewed on ABC News and 60 Minutes about his repulsive habit! In the ABC interview with Barbara Walters, Desai spoke at length about how he considered urine therapy a “cure for almost all diseases.” He claimed the practice could even help with cataracts “if you catch them at the beginning and continue washing your eyes with it.” On 60 Minutes with Dan Rather, he proclaimed urine therapy the “perfect” treatment for the millions of Indians who could not afford professional care at that time!
