“BRELA’s decision to implement this platform is very crucial,” president Kikwete said.
He was speaking during the 8th meeting of the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) held in Dar es Salaam recently where he urged other agency to emulate the move to help formalise businesses in Tanzania.
The development of the online business name registration platform was announced by BRELA’s CEO, Frank Kanyusi during the meetings session of the conference to discuss on how to improve the business climate in Tanzania.
He said trials for the system started in June this year and the platform is now active and ready to use.
“A person wanting to register a business name online simply has to submit the proposed business name, e-mail address and some form of identification like the national identification card, passport, voter identity card or driving license, their mobile telephone number and birth date,” he explained.
“All you have to do is visit the BRELA website www.brela.go.tz and enter the proposed business name which the system will verify availability,’ he went on to explain.
“Once the name is verified, the client will be required to make registration payment and this can also be done online or over their mobile phones through simbanking,” he added noting that the two banks that allow for the online and simbanking payments are NMB or CRDB.
“After payment, the client will automatically receive an invoice of a payment and a reference number the client will then enter the payment reference number to complete the registration process,’ he summed up.
A participant from VIBINDO expressed his appreciation and testified to getting a business name certificate in just an hour.
