Lowassa to ensure education suits labour market

Edward Lowassa
Flag bearer of Chadema, Edward Lowassa yesterday said if elected in the General Election he will transform the country’s education system to be competitive in the labour market.

“If we improve the quality of the education system we will make Tanzanian students able to compete in the regional labour market,” Lowassa told an election campaign rally at the Uhuru grounds in Nzega Township, Tabora Region.

“There are only 49 days remained for Tanzanians to decide whether they want to continue living in abject poverty, living without clean and safe water, the kinds of education they want and health services they want, and eating once per day...let’s examine ourselves where we want to go, make the right decision and vote for change, vote for Chadema,” he urged the multitudes at the rally.

He said among the key issues, his government is going to transform the education sector by ensuring better teaching and learning environment in schools.

“Better education for all Tanzanians will be our first priority once we get into power. We want to make our people compete in the regional labour market,” the presidential contender said.He also pledged to set up a series of vocational training centres so that youth gain work skills and be able to self employed.
Lowassa who held a series of campaign rallies in Bukene, Sikonge and Igunga told the   people to come out in big numbers and vote for UKAWA in the General Election.

Earlier, Former prime minister, Frederick Sumaye said; “we mean it when we say we’re going to bring change to our country’s educational system, so that our people become employable within and outside the country.”

“The current system doesn’t empower our people to compete in the regional labour market and that’s why we’re coming up with a new system that will transform the country’s education so our youth become employable,” he pledged.
“We will not rest until our beloved country and our people are liberated,” he again pledged.

He summed up noting that teachers’ respect must be restored through improved salaries and better living conditions.
“With improved living of teachers they will do a better job teaching our children,” he said.
