Magufuli with long list of promises


Since the National Electoral Commission (NEC) ushered in the start of the national campaigns for the registered political parties countrywide, the CCM Presidential contender Dr John Pombe Magufuli started the race in Southern Highland regions after the big launch at Jangwani in Dar es Salaam. 

Within ten days of his campaigns, Dr Magufuli has managed to reach a great number of his voters in Katavi, Rukwa, Songwe, Mbeya, Njombe, Ruvuma and Mtwara, and in all these regions he has been striving to highlight the party’s policies and their importance while promising scores of things he would do if elected president.

Common promises which apparently had touched many of his listeners are the provision of free education from primary school up to secondary school level with effect from next year, to establish small scale industries of the middle income and bigger ones, and every village to scoop a whooping of Sh50 million each in the country.

Others are to construct health centres in every ward, designated district hospitals as well as those at regional levels would be promoted into referrals.

He also promised to ensure that there were enough medical supplies including medicines in hospitals so as to avoid long standing queries from people who have been complaining of the recurring shortages of such facilities at various hospitals in the country.

Dr Magufuli has also promised to curb the habit of some doctors who direct their patients to buy medicines from nearby medic shops which ironically most of these belongs to them.

Dr Magufuli who has used most of his time boasting himself of the successes he achieved with diligence such as constructing tarmac roads as a Minister for Works in the country since in the third government phase, also promising to transfer electricity to every rural village in the country.

He has also promised to ward off the disparities between farmers and the government which have been buying farmers’ crops on credit, and noted that, his government would be for cash in hand.

He has also promised to supply water facilities in every village he has visited in his campaigns, and ward off queries from small scale business people such as ‘Mama Lishe’ and others.

He has also promised to reduce inconveniences facing motorbike riders popularly known as ‘Bodabodas’ who are frequently in trouble with militia men as well as traffic police on the road saying that his government will create a conducive environment that would enable them operate safely.

He said the government of the fifth phase will make a reform on workers’ remunerations of every category this is together with empowering security organs to operate in a modern style for they shall be having more sophisticated weapons.

In order to foster the development of education in the country, Dr Magufuli has promised loans to every higher learning students in the country as well as constructing better houses for teachers in both primary and secondary schools the country.

KATAVI
The CCM presidential flag bearer started his journey in Katavi Region and while talking to voters in Mpanda rural he promised to build a stretch of a tarmac road from Mpanda town to Uvinza which has 194 kilometers and explained that, a feasibility study was complete and what was remaining was to announce a tender in order to get a strategic investor to start the first phase of the construction work that will cover 30 kilometres.

While seeking votes from residents of Mishamo and Kanoge, he promised to build roads at a tarmac level from Katavi to Tabora which has a stretch of 365 kilometres, Mpanda up to Ugara which will be financed by Africa Development Bank (ADB).

The essence of doing this is to join the region with other regions and the neighbouring countries so that people in these regions might enjoy free movements and their business goods.

While speaking with voters at Mpanda town and those at Mlele he promised to build a dilapidated railway line that links Mpanda-Kalema with Tabora at a standard gauge.

RUKWA
While in Rukwa, Dr Magufuli talked to his voters at Nkasi in Sumbawanga rural and voters at Sumbawanga town, Kaslamba and Kwela where he has promised to construct a road at a tarmac level a road from Katavi up to Sumbawanga, Bukoba to Biharamulo up to Mpanda.

At his campaign rallies, Dr Magufuli who used to call himself a bulldozer (Tingatinga) has been promising to have a small cabinet of ministers that are very effective.

He has promised to do away with unnecessary celebrations such as the water week, milk, agriculture which he said uses a lot of tax payers’ money and yet no services are rendered to the people in those particular areas in the country.

Dr Magufuli who has worked for a couple of 20 years as Minister in the government has boasted that all roads in Rukwa Region which have been constructed at tarmac level were by his efforts.

Apart from roads, the former works minister has boasted of having constructed 10 big bridges and two small ones.

He promises to tarmac all roads constructed at all district headquarters in the country because road fund has increased from Sh73 billion ten years ago to Sh866.63 billion. In view of this, Dr Magufuli has promised to construct a road from Sumbawanga to Kasana and Kalambo to Kasese about  (112 kilometres away).

MBEYA,SONGWE
Dk Magufuli who boasting tough against corrupt people in the country, told voters in Momba and Tunduma and villages bordering Zambia  that he would expand Tunduma Highway into a four carriage way.

Speaking to Ileje voters, he promised to build a tarmac level road from Tunduma to Ileje (58 km), and he also promised voters at Vwawa constituency to build a 10 kilometre-tarmac road.

At Mbalizi constituency, the CCM Presidential flag bearer Dr Magufuli promised his voters that if elected president he would make sure that, the area will have a tarmac road.

Speaking to voters at Mkwajuni constituency which has become the new district headquarters  he promised to construct a district headquarters building and workers’ houses including construction of tarmac roads in the district as well as one kilometre road between Mbalizi and Mkwajuni.

He mentioned other roads to be constructed as Mbeya to Luanyiru (39 km) and Chunya to Makongorosi and also to give soft loans to small scale miners in the area.

Dr Magufuli has also promised to reform the working tools for game wardens and make sure that, elephants are not indiscriminately killed  and that every game warden will be given a certain number of elephants to take care of, and in case of any loss that will occur, the concerned game warden will be held responsible.

He also assured them that his government will not tolerate to see game wardens are attacked by robbers and killed without cause.

Dr Magufuli also promised that his government will construct 4 kilometers of a tarmac road at Makongorosi town and has directed the Chairman of the Road Board who is also Mbeya Regional Commissioner to direct the regional TANROAD to announce the tender for the construction of the road in one week’s time.

Speaking with the voters at Kyela constituency he promised them to build a road from Matema beach to Kyela town and that a total sum of Sh. 56 billion has been set aside, and while at Rungwe he promised to build a stretch of road covering 80 kilometres.

NJOMBE
Speaking to voters at Makete constituency at Wanging'ombe and Njombe villages, Dr Magufuli promised residents in these areas that he would build a tarmac road that links Mbeya and Makete and another one from Wanging'ombe to Njombe town.

Dr Magufuli noted that the construction of the road will start immediately when he is elected president, as the feasibility study and the designs are in place.

He also promised construction of road from Madaba to Ludewa (40km) then from Lugarawa to Ludewa whose feasibility study is complete. This is together with another road from Ludewa to Njombe.

RUVUMA
Speaking to voters in Nyasa constituency, Dr Magufuli promised to construct a bridge at Ruhuhu River and also build a fish industry, supply enough fishing tools for fishermen and also construct a road up to Kitai junction on the Songea-Mbinga.

Voters in Mbinga town and of rural have been promised to be given a coffee factory, construction of tarmac roads for the road between Mbinga and Mbamba-Bay (66 km) and that funds are already in place by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and that the road will extend up to Njombe and Masasi. 

Speaking with voters at Namtumbo, Songea town and Peramiho Dr Magfufuli said that he will construct a road at tarmac level between Namtumbo and Tunduru up to Masasi (200km) and already there are four contractors going on with the work at the site.

MTWARA
Speaking with the voters at Masasi Dr Magufuli has promised to upgrade the system of warehousing receipt for Cashew nuts and construct enough cashew nut factories so as to empower the farmers in the region.

He has also ensured farmers that they will be paid on time and get their agricultural inputs while promising to get tough with lazy officers who misuse funds for farmers.

Voters from Newala town and in rural parts of it including Nanyamba have been promised a tarmac road from Masasi to Newala town, and then from Newala to Tandahimba up to Mtwara (200 km) and noted that in this road network presently there are four contractors going on with construction.

Speaking with voters of Mtwara town and in rural constituencies, Dr Magufuli has promised to bring a ferry for Msanga to promote the fisheries industries and fishing facilities and make sure that the production of gas benefits people from Mtwara before anywhere else.

He promised to expand Mtwara port so that it may have the same status like Dar es Salaam port, Tanga and Zanzibar, while he has promised to standard gauge the railway line that links Mtwara, Songea and Mbamba Bay so that this should be linked also to the coal production regions in Southern regions of the country such as Liganga and Mchuchuma in Njombe Region.

He said the expansion of Mtwara port will enable the coming of goods from the neighbouring countries such as Malawi, Zambia with ease rather than waiting for the Dar port alone.

He also promised construction of industries and equal opportunities for all in the use of gas currently in exploration so as to provide employment opportunities to many Tanzanians and have better life.
