All gas revenue will go to education - Lowassa!

Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) presidential candidate Edward Lowassa
Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) presidential candidate Edward Lowassa has promised to direct revenue collected from natural gas extractions to the education sector.

Lowassa, who is backed by four political parties forming the Coalition of Peoples Constitution (Ukawa) said education is key and the development engine for any nation. He said the quality of education as well as teacher’s welfare will be improved.

“I will channel all the money collected from natural gas extractions to finance the 1.4trn/- budget for the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training,” Lowassa, who is a former premier said insisting to create better working environment for the teachers.

He gave the promissory notes this week during his campaign rallies held in Biharamulo, Ngara Urban and Ngara Rural in Kagera Region and in Mbogwe constituency in Shinyanga Region.

Lowassa however pledged to create a suitable environment for small scale entrepreneurs and form a special SMEs’ bank for them to easily access business loans.

He said his government will be a common-man’s friend in a move to ensure that small and medium size entreprises conduct their businesses comfortably. On health, the rainbow coalition presidential candidate assured Biharamulo residents to construct a major government hospital that would be equipped with essential medicines and equipment. He said all the district hospitals countrywide would be upgraded to regional hospitals.

“A health nation is productive, I want to improve the provision of health services in the country and reduce the child mortality rate. Under my government expectant mothers will enjoy better services at public hospitals,” he said.

Applauded former Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC) Juma Mwapachu for his decision to leave Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), he said the retired diplomat is a confident leader.

He urged other CCM members to follow suit because the party has lost legitimacy to continue ruling the nation.

He said the top government and party leaders who have so far joined the opposition will help Chadema to form a better government once voted into power in the October 25 General Election.

Chadema National Chairman Freeman Mbowe noted that it is Chadema that pushed for the process of writing of the new Constitution. He said the opposition wants Tanzania to have a constitution that would enable the citizens to benefit from their resources.

He promised that soon after Chadema is endorsed to take over powers, they will resume the new ‘Katiba’ writing process using the first draft that was prepared by the former Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) Chairman rtd Judge Joseph Warioba.

“The decision by top ruling party leaders to cross to the opposition is a blessing …. We are going to use their wisdom and leadership experience to ensure development changes for Tanzanians,” Mbowe told the voters.

According to Kingunge Ngombale-Mwiru, it is high time Tanzanians opted for changes because Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has failed to propel the nation forward after being in power for half a decade.

He said: “CCM is no longer a strong political force that it was that is why former Prime Minister Frederick Sumaye, Lowassa, Mwapachu and decided to abandon ship”.

Ngombale-Mwiru said time has come for the opposition to lead the nation.
Former Home Affairs minister Lawrence Masha said the changes that Chadema advocates are for all Tanzanians. He urged the electorrate to observe the country laws and regulations during and after the elections.

Masha warned security organs over violation of human rights during the elections, saying the citizens shouldn’t be threatened in fulfill their constitutional right by voting to leaders of their choice.

Biharamulo parliamentary seat contender Dr Majaliwa Mbassa promised to ensure availability of clean and safe water as only 42 percent of the residents have access to the service.

He urged the residents to vote for Lowassa for improved health services.
