Hamad pledges hefty pay to civil servants!

CIVIC United Front (CUF) Zanzibar presidential candidate Seif Sharif Hamad has promised to increase salaries of workers to improve their welfare.

“It is a pity the level of education has dwindled in Zanzibar. Under my leadership, I’ll ensure it is revived because education is a key to development,” he told a campaign gathering in Pemba.

Addressing thousands of supporters at Uondwe in Mtambwe constituency, Mr Hamad said the attractive package for teachers and favourable environment for all civil servants is stipulated in the 2015 CUF election manifesto.

He asked voters in Pemba to vote for him if they need improvement in education -- especially solving congestion in classes. “We plan to construct more buildings to end congestion,” he said.

He promised further that the education sector during his tenure will be in line with international standard as he envisages to build more houses for teachers and provide the required learning tools.

“Science subjects will be improved by training more teachers, laboratories would undergo improvement and computers would be provided to schools,” he said.
