Maalim Seif promises unity among Isles residents.

Zanzibar Civic United Front (CUF) presidential aspirant Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad.
Zanzibar Civic United Front (CUF) presidential aspirant Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad has promised to strengthen unity among Isle residents.
He would also build a nation that respects human rights and ensures justice to all, he told a campaign rally held at Mwambe grounds in Kiwani constituency yesterday.
Maalim Seif stressed that his government would not discriminate anyone, although the people of Zanzibar have been discriminated for a long time.
He said it was now high time for them to enjoy their fundamental rights, such as the right to be provided with resident identification cards.
He said once elected the president he would make sure that all the residents in the isles are provided with resident identification cards and their rights recognized.
Maalim Seif declared: “I am going to form a government that respects human rights and good governance…no one will be above the law.”.
Maalim Seif, who is the First Vice President of Zanzibar, said for the Isles’ economy to grow, they must have full autonomy on various matters.
He said his government will offer free education and health services. This would be contrary to the current situation where even expectant mothers are forced to pay to access services at public hospitals, he said.
At the same meeting, 678 members of the Alliance for Democratic Change (ADC) and Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) joined CUF.
Maalim Seif was optimistic and confident of winning the October 25 General Election by 80 percent.
Speaking at the rally, Pemba island assistant campaign coordinator, Said Ali Mbarouk, said Zanzibar cannot liberate itself economically until it is granted full autonomy.
He called  Pemba and Zanzibar citizens to vote for Maalim Seif because he was among courageous and patriotic leaders capable of leading Zanzibar.
