Magufuli's love for work impresses many!

MWANZA residents have hailed President John Magufuli on the manner in which he started his work in office.

According to a survey carried out here, many residents were impressed by the surprise visit to the office of the Treasury, while others praised his performance and said he will revolutionise the country’s economy.

They gave their comments yesterday on the steps taken by him after he had made a surprise visit to the Ministry of Finance, where he discovered the absence of some workers in the ministry.

On his part, the Sumve-Elect Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Richard Ndassa, hailed Dr Magufuli for a good work start. He said it is the culture and behaviour of President Magufuli since he was appointed as the minister of works. “Those who didn’t know President Magufuli will be amazed. That is his style of working.

He has been doing so even when he was following up contractors' money in the Treasury and that has been his character. He is against appropriation of public funds”, Mr Ndassa explained, adding: “In the Treasury offices, there are civil servants who pretend to be godfathers. They work as they wish. You will find that handling of various money votes which are transacted by ministries to the Treasury are delayed because of bad bureaucratic procedures and the arrogance of workers.”

Mr Ndassa urged the government under the leadership of Dr Magufuli to make a major financial administration overhaul in the Treasury.

This will reflect his speed of bringing real change in government under his slogan “ Hapa ni Kazi tu," meaning - it's time for hard work, nothing else.

“As you know without money, we cannot have any changes. And that is why the president made his surprise tour of the Treasury.

The institution works erratically and that is why the amount of government funds provided to other ministries is invariably less than what is given to the Treasury,” he said.

On his part, a Member of the National Executive Committee (CCM-NEC), Mr Christopher Mwita Gachuma, said that President Magufuli has come up with an impressive take off.

This shows how he is determined to bring changes to the nation. “He has started well and he has shown goodwill to the people of Tanzania.

I know him. He is a hardworking man and I wish him every success in his new position”, he said. On his part, Mwanza City Academic Officer, Mr Omary Kwesiga, said the president started his work in style. This move will bring hope to Tanzanians especially in connection with poverty alleviation. “I am very optimistic with the performance of Dr Magufuli. He has started his work in a good style.

This shows what he means when he calls for hard work,” he said. He asked the new president to solve the problems that continue to stymie the education sector -- especially the shortage of school desks, class rooms, teachers' houses, science laboratories and teaching and learning material generally.

On her part, Scholastica Zablon, who is a Nyakato-Mecco resident, said Dr Magufuli is a hard worker and that he did a good thing by making a surprise visit to the Ministry of Finance which takes care of taxpayer’s money.

“ The president has started by inspecting a financial institution. Apparently, this is because without money there is no development. He visited the Treasury in order to satisfy himself with the work ethics there.

And he discovered that some workers were absent," he said. On her part, Joy Lima who is a Kiseke-PPF resident congratulated President Magufuli for his new style of work, although she asked the government to provide him with tight security as he was seen walking on foot to the ministry.

On his part, Hamis Kikasi, a Mkuyuni resident said it is a good start for the president to visit the government offices where he will see to himself what is going on in the public sector. He will also get to know lazy workers and their leaders.

“He has started to the backbone of our country, as you know money is every thing, I believe the useless worker will see what will happen to them,” he said.
