MUSCAT: Coinciding with the 45th anniversary of the National Day the ministry of transport and communications will inaugurate the new Salalah Airport on Wednesday under the auspices of HH Sayyid Shabib bin Taimour al Said, Adviser to His Majesty the Sultan for Environmental Affairs.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by a number of ministers, under-secretaries, shaikhs and dignitaries from Dhofar Governorate.
The new airport has a 65,000 sqm passenger terminal and 4 k × 75 m runway equipped with the latest navigational instruments and automatic landing system as per the international standards and is able to handle all types of aircraft. It is the first airport in the Sultanate to use jet bridges. It also has a 57m-high air traffic control tower. — ONA
