CCM in Diaspora express confidence with current ‘people centered’ party direction

President John Magufuli
Members of CCM in the city of Durban, South Africa have expressed confidence and commitment to support the fifth-phase government saying it is ‘people centered’ and has shown interest to improve Tanzanians wellbeing.

Speaking on their behalf, Stephen Makunga urged other CCM members to support President John Magufuli’s government in his endeavor to bring swift development to the country.

He said there are some party members who are against Magufuli’s speed of transforming the government system; “but we are urging them to join the current government because what it does is for the benefit of all Tanzanians.”

“This fifth phase government is something good for the country,” he said.
“It has started in a very crucial area, proper revenue collection and management so that they get enough money to fund public health and education services,” he detailed. "This regime is trying to put national interest ahead of bureaucracy or party interest but previously CCM members were looking for opportunities to feed their own interests,” he alleged.

He said CCM members should take the good performance of the fifth government thus far manifested, as a blessing; “because the party was otherwise going bad in the last ten years,” he again alleged.

Citing examples, he said in 2005, the party garnered 80 per cent of all votes in the General Election but it has declined to only 58 per cent this year.

He concluded by urging party leaders to leave President Magufuli to freely appoint a cabinet of his own choosing without external influence.
