Insults, bomb threat in Dubai-bound BA flight

"Some guy went berserk on board 5 hours into the flight claiming he had a bomb and everyone was going to die."

A passenger on board a British Airways flight from London's Heathrow Airport to Dubai had to be restrained by cabin crew after becoming aggressive and claiming to have a bomb on board.

In a series of tweets, British radio DJ Steve Penk - whose 27-year-old daughter was on board the aircraft - chronicled what happened.

"Some guy went berserk on board 5 hours into the flight claiming he had a bomb and everyone was going to die," he tweeted. "It took five crew and the help of another passenger to restrain him. They had to handcuff him and then cover him with a blanket."

"My daughter Natalie says the guy was literally screaming and shouting he couldn't breathe," Penk added, noting that the passenger was also "spitting at everyone". Citing an e-mail penned by Natalie to her father, Britain's Daily Mail quotes Natalie as saying "he was restrained on the seats but was literally howling at this point".

"He was screaming 'you're trying to kill me, I'm going to die'," she added. The flight - BA105 - landed safely in Dubai at 6.56am on Wednesday.

A British Airways spokesperson told Khaleej Times "our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse. This sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken".
