THE Second Vice-President, Ambassador Mr Seif Ali Iddi, has warned people planning to sabotage the fresh elections scheduled for March 20 this year, saying the government will not spare them.
“We are serious on security issues. We ask those against the elections to avoid getting involved in criminal acts as they will not be spared,” warned Mr Iddi after inspecting the CCM office branch at Kengeja village in Pemba.
He said such acts are unacceptable as people on the islands head for fresh elections. Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) nullified the October 25 last year due to fraud and violation of election laws, setting March this year for fresh polls.
The main opposition party in the Islands, Civic United Front (CUF), is opposing the nullification of the last elections and the fresh polls, accusing ZEC for denying the party candidate Mr Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad victory.
