INDIA: Bengaluru couple make bomb hoax call to catch a flight!

• The baggage of all 180 passengers on the flight was screened again

An Air Asia Bengaluru to Kochi flight, which was scheduled to depart at 8:45 pm (IST) on Wednesday, was delayed by almost seven hours.

Reason? The relatives of a couple who were to take the flight called the Kempegowda Airport and said that a bomb had been placed on the Air Asia aircraft. Neha Gopinathan and Arjun were late for Air Asia flight I5 1129 and made several calls to the airline to delay the departure of the flight. 

The couple, who were to get engaged on Thursday, is presently in police custody, according to The New Indian Express. The couple was late for the flight and asked their relatives in Kerala to "do something to delay the flight." The hoax call was made at 8:31pm.

The couple aroused suspicion when they reached they reached the airport at 8:59 pm and requested that they be allowed to board the delayed flight. On questioning, police found out that the couple were to be engaged on Thursday. The couple runs a teaching academy in Bengaluru.

The baggage of all 180 passengers on the flight was screened again and a futile search was made for the 'bomb.' Finally, the flight took off on Thursday at 3:30 am.
