Fishermen load a recently-catched arapaima, also known as pirarucu, onto their boat in the Western Amazon region near Volta do Bucho in the Ituxi Reserve. Arapaima can grow up to 10 feet tall and weigh almost 200 kg, to preserve the species, fishing it is banned from December to March.
