Live long, shed some extra weight!

  • Health awareness is a must and physical well-being is directly linked to happiness.
It goes without saying that health is wealth. This is why it is said prevention is better than cure. In this mechanic age of ours, most of the health ailments are due to stress, workload and an imbalance in diet and sleep. Lifestyle diseases such as diabetics often lead to multiple complications such as stroke, heart attack and even paralysis. To retain a healthy body, one has to be physical fit and maintain a decorum in life through which work, diet and sleep are ordained as per age factor. Though people value the importance of being hale and healthy, they at times indulge in laxity and land in trouble. Health and wellness are proportionate properties, and some of its salient features are physical activity, medicine consciousness, and preventive safeguards. The point is how to define health and wellness, what it takes to lead an ailment-free life. The answer is self-explanatory: the moment each and every individual takes charge of his/her health, life will be much more composed and ordained, and physical exertion is indispensable. People who go to gym, jog, brisk walk, swim, and at the same time avoid smoking, liquor and fatty food have a better chance of living a normal life. Obesity, diabetes, hypertension, psychological disorders and cholesterol are some of the ailments that could be addressed instantly by keeping oneself physically fit.

Recently conducted surveys say that more than 80 per cent of people are willing to pay a premium for food with healthy attributes. Similarly, there is no dearth of people who are conscious of their lifestyle, and want to take out time for gymnasium, swimming and weight-losing exercises. This is where the concept of health and wellness is born and take a prominent role in life.

Fifty-five per cent of people in the UAE are gradually getting obese. This symptom can be better addressed in a holistic way by not only creating awareness, but by also voluntarily opting to mend lifestyle. Home to work and back decorum should take a backseat, and people should prefer to walk, eat less oily food, and indulge in at least weekly gym courses for making a difference in their lives.

Regular visits to health clinics, keeping a track of blood pressure; blood sugar and weight are some of the starting points for being ensured that one is health conscious. The prima facie for being hale and healthy is to end up in exercises at a gym or walkway!
