New law has parents facing 2,500 euros fine!

  • The new law is meant for "child protection", says minister.
A new law means that parents in Germany stand to be fined more than
2,500 euros if they don't vaccinate their children before sending them to school or daycare.

According to Metro parents who cannot prove that their children have been vaccinated for measles by August 1, 2021 will face a fine of 2,500 euros. Teachers and daycare workers, staff in hospitals and residents of refugee shelters must also be vaccinated.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn has argued that mandatory vaccination is was necessary after the sudden increase in cases of this highly contagious and deadly disease. He stressed that the measure was meant for "child protection" and that measles infection was "an unnecessary threat in 2019"

Germany has recorded 501 cases of measles this year amidst some parents and doctors opposing vaccination.
