Children buried in cow dung during eclipse to treat them of illnesses!

  • The children were buried neck-deep in dung.
Children of determination were buried in cow dung during December 26, solar eclipse to 'cure' them.

According to the Times of India, a total of 6 children (aged 3-11) in Karnataka were buried neck-deep in a pit of cow dung during the rare three-hour eclipse by their desperate parents. They were quickly rescued by child protection officers, and have been offered free medical care.

The parents of the children were apparently told by village elders that the dung would turn holy during the eclipse and could 'cure' their children's disabilities, which ranged from partial paralysis to turned-in feet.

The children were soon removed from the pit by members attached to district child protection office Bheemaraya.

"We reached the Taj-Sultanpur village at the end of the solar eclipse and shifted the children to the district hospital," said a spokesperson for Bheemaraya. The children underwent tests at the hospital to see if their issues could be corrected using surgery.

Orthopedist, Dr S Kamareddy, has agreed to perform free surgery for the three children who are eligible for them.
