AFTER it was divulged to Zanzibar Ni Kwetu that Act Wazalendo's Central Committee took a decision to join the Government of National Unity (GNU) in Zanzibar, our blog's top brass immediately rushed into an impromptu meeting in seclusion at the Hotel Verde here in Zanzibar, in order to take a stand on the new political climate that has just unfolded.
Our meeting was long and raucous and went on for 18 hours non-stop, and which in the end led to the unprecedented firing of some members of our Board of Directors and several key senior writers / posters for our blog, for their anti-GNU sentiments.

In this meeting, at last, Zanzibar Ni Kwetu, for the first time ever, since the general elections ended in Zanzibar, saw the light at the end of the tunnel when Maalim Seif and his party took a decisive decision to join the GNU, at whatever cost it takes, in order to initiate a meaningful healing process among Zanzibaris.
Sadly enough, it is still in our records that, we Zanzibar Ni Kwetu, not long ago, wanted Maalim Seif not to join the GNU. Well, that was last week, when we were all drunk of chibuku in our office!
In analyzing Maalim Seif's political history, Zanzibar Ni Kwetu has come to realize that he cannot simply be allowed to walk away from GNU like last time, because his wisdom, guidance, knowledge and tolerance are needed to steer our ship through the tumultuous waters of the 2020 elections.
Let's not fool ourselves. There is no handy roadmap, no short-cut or simple prescription drug at the counter to solve our problems in Zanzibar. We have to genuinely engage and talk to each other in order to solve our problems.
Fellow Zanzibaris, please, don't be stupid like us when not long ago we thought of advising Maalim Seif not to join the GNU. Of course, that was before we went to a mental hospital at Kidongo Chekundu for a thorough pathological check up of our minds when it was found out that we were all not in our proper senses. But, we are now!
