The UAE is a key international player in promoting peace, dialogue and tolerance to boost relations with other countries of the world under the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, while chairing the Cabinet meeting on Sunday.

Shaikh Mohammed praised the directives of the President in boosting the ties with other countries.Shaikh Mohammed said: “The UAE diplomacy stems from the wisdom and values followed by the founding fathers of this beloved nation.
It has proved consistent and competent in tackling issues of global importance at all times.”
“Much focus has been given to UAE’s foreign relations in order to better serve the interests of the country and boost its role as an influential state,” he added.
Shaikh Mohammed’s assertion came during the UAE Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday in attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a permanent mission to the Council of the European Union in Brussels for the purposes of further enhancing relations with EU member countries in various aspects. The meeting also approved the establishment of an embassy in the Republic of Armenia and the reopening of UAE’s embassy in Somalia.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a number of air transport agreements with Paraguay and Swaziland, in addition to an agreement with Serbia concerning visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic passports.
The Cabinet also approved Eid Al Adha holiday from 13-19 October 2013. Official work is to be resumed on Sunday, 20 October 2013.
Also approved at the meeting was a request by the Federal National Council to discuss references to the UAE in annual reports issued by international institutions concerning various fields such as human development, attracting investments and competitiveness.
The Cabinet also approved the financial results presented by Emirates General Transport and Services Corporation (Emirates Transport) and Emirates Real Estate Corporation for the year 2012.
