Mobile communications company Vodacom yesterday granted Sh12 million to the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF) for supporting the forum’s annual meeting slated for Iringa on October 24-25.

Speaking at the delivery function, TEF Chairman Absalom Kibanda said more than 70 editors from various media houses will attend the conference.
The key theme of the conference is ‘Security for Journalists,’ where participants will review major issues pertaining to the media, with a view to move a resolution which will help to improve media security and performance.
Joseline Kamuhanda, the Vodacom head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations who handed the cheque said that the company decided to support the media organ because they understand and value media contribution in society.

On his part Yesaya Mwakifulefule, the head of Vodacom Foundation, said that at the TEF Conference, the company in cooperation with the editors will conduct a cooporate social responsibility exercise in the surrounding areas, with Sh3.5 million set aside for those activities.
