While travelling to Zanzibar, Simba have unfinished business of recruitment of players and it has been reported that another West African player Makan Dembele from Mali has arrived for trials.
Dembele and another striker from Senegal Abdoulaye N’daw will be given trials in Zanzibar to weigh their football prowess before a decision to sign them will be taken.
Simba’s chairman of players’ registration committee Zachariah Hanspoppe, said the duo will be under scrutiny at the end of the week. Twenty-nine year old Dembele who used to feature for Algerian top flight side of JS Kabylie, will only be given a contract to sign for the club after successful assessment of his prowess during the team’s training sessions in Zanzibar. Hanspoppe said there is no room for a player to be signed blindly and then drag the club into costly contract termination crises.
‘We are serious on this issue as a player needs to be ascertained his playing ability and confirmed medical examination before coming into signing deals, like anywhere in the world”, said Hanspoppe. On Monday this week, Simba parted ways with another Senegalese player Papa Niang after his failure to impress the players’ registration panel. Niang boarded flight home after the unsuccessful greener pastures attempt.
In related development, the club’s information officer Hadji Manara said Simba is lined up for two build up friendlies, the first against KMKM to be played at the Amaan Stadium on Saturday.
The visiting Simba will also be in action on the subsequent day to play against JKU at the same venue.
Manara said Simba will continue to train in Zanzibar after the two friendlies and on their way back home they will stop in Tanga where they are lined up against newly promoted African Sports in the season’s opener at Mkwakwani Stadium on September 12. They will still be in Tanga for another away league assignment against Mgambo JKT four days later
