Final push for votes countrywide!

ELECTION campaigns end today countrywide on the eve of polling day that will involve eight Union presidential candidates with their running mates who were engaged in serious campaign battles.

Eligible voters listened to all candidates who came out very strongly to inform the public about possible solutions to challenges facing them. In this election there is one female presidential candidate and a running mate.

Political parties with female candidates are Alliance for Change Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) and Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). According to the National Electoral Commission (NEC), eight political parties vying the presidency include ADC, ACT-Wazalendo, CCM, CHADEMA, CHAUMMA, TLP, UPDP and NRA.

The electoral commission released a timetable showing different places where each party is scheduled to mark the last day of election campaign. ACT-Wazalendo will wind up its meetings in Singida and Igunga District in Tabora, ADC will be based in Iringa (urban ad Makongoroni), CCM will be in all districts of Mwanza and CHADEMA at Biafra and Jangwani grounds in Dar es Salaam.

Other parties include CHAUMMA which slated to hold the last campaign rallies at Ubungo, Manzese and Bakhresa areas, TLP will be in Vunjo, Moshi Rural District, UPDP in Morogoro, Mvomero in particular and NRA in Pugu Kajiungeni, Mbagala, Tandika in Ilala District in Dar es Salaam.

Issues that featured high in election campaigns include the challenge of poverty, corruption, unemployment, with all parties concurring on the need to establish industries.
