German based solar smart energy firm, Mobisol has been recognised and awarded as ‘Lighthouse Activity’ and ‘Momentum for Change’ by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

“We are deeply grateful that Mobisol was honoured in this context as a solution presenting a ‘Momentum for Change,” he said.

He added, “Today, maybe more than ever, emerging innovation-driven nations such as Tanzania and Rwanda have the historic opportunity to leapfrog environmentally damaging practices and become global models for a truly sustainable future,” He said Mobisol has so far provided over 35,000 Tanzanian and Rwandan households and businesses with clean, affordable and reliable solar energy. The systems are made affordable by an installment plan over three years. Their sustainability is guaranteed by an extended warranty, high-quality robust components, free-of-charge installation and a three-year free maintenance package backed by comprehensive IT solutions.

During the conference, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon emphasised the exemplary function of the award winners for world wide climate action.

“The lighthouse activities of this year’s award winners highlight resourceful, innovative and replicable examples that can serve as a beacon of light to inspire others to take action,” he said.

Working with reliable partners within German and the East African governments, European Union and development organisations, Mobisol strives will continue to foster economic growth, educational opportunities and climate change mitigation by empowering more households and businesses, schools and public institutions in the region.
