- Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 users, consider yourself warned.
Microsoft recently announced that “beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates.”
What this means is that users that are still using Explorer 8, 9 and 10 should begin updating their browsers to IE 11 or Edge. Microsoft will install a patch, KB3123303, on the old browsers asking the users to upgrade.
Without security updates or technical support, the old browsers will become vulnerable and can be exploited by malwares exposing users to different threats and putting the owner’s data at risk.
Microsoft, on its website, said “Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of Internet Explorer, and will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.”
