THE Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) Central Committee (CC) has praised the government for its efforts in fighting corruption and embezzlement of public funds.
According to the party’s CC resolutions issued in Dar es Salaam by the party’s leader Mr Zitto Kabwe, anti-graft crusades have to be supported by every Tanzanian.
He also urged that any administrative and disciplinary measures that have been taken against unfaithful officials should consider the bases of legal requirements, good governance and humanity.
He further noted that to make the campaign more successful, President John Pombe Magufuli is supposed to direct his efforts towards overhauling the whole system which has largely culminated in a massive rot in public institutions.The committee also called for the government to resume the constitution agenda as it has been discussed for so long by the general public and other stakeholders.
“We have reminded the president to consider the new constitution agenda with regard to his pledge that he made when opening Parliament at the end of last year,” he explained.
He also wanted the president to intervene in the political situation in Zanzibar as a way to promote peace and stability. The party’s CC also evaluated last year’s general election where it has recommended Tanzanians and all media houses for the support that they offered to the party despite that it was still budding.
It managed to get one parliamentary seat and 41 ward councillors countrywide. Mr Zitto went on to explain that they have also discussed the party’s five-year plan that aims at meeting five strategies such as improvement of leadership at all levels, improvement of communication system, to discover and effectively participate in various developments.
Others are to strengthen party’s relationship with media houses as well as to start effective preparation for the 2019 local government election, the 2020 general election and other elections that will come up.
According to him, the CC has also formulated other committees including finance and sustainable project committee, research, police and planning, ethics and party’s security committee, the legal, constitution and foreign affairs committee, ideology communication and publicity committee.
Also in the list there are Social development committee, the committee for training and election affairs as well as the parliament and local government committee.
