Yusuke Taniguchi was arrested when he made purchases of $2,500 (Dh9,100 approx) online. The police, who were alerted, showed up at Taniguchi's house with his delivery and arrested him.
Taniguchi reportedly told the cops that he used the stolen credit card information to shop for things online, which would then sell then at a pawn shop. He added that he would then use the money, he got after selling the items, to cover his living expenses.
According to Sora News 24, Taniguchi, 34, has a photographic memory which helped him memorise the 16-digit number, name, expiry date, and security code while processing his customers' purchase, reported Vice.com. He used to write down the information in a notebook.
After his arrest, police recovered the notebook and were shocked to see credit card details of hundreds of victims jotted down in it. According to All-Nippon News Network, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating the case, and trying to ascertain other purchases made by Taniguchi with stolen credit card details.
