Foundation stone for embassy laid

MUSCAT — The Foundation Stone for the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the Sultanate was laid down at the Embassies District here yesterday under the auspices of President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania and in the presence of Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Commerce and Industry Minister (Head of the Mission of Honour accompanying the guest),
Yahya bin Moosa al Bakri, Sultanate's Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania and a number of heads of the Diplomatic Corps in the Sultanate.The President of the United Republic of Tanzania gave a speech during which he said this occasion is a historic moment in the Omani-Tanzanian relations pointing out that laying down the Foundation Stone of the Tanzanian Embassy in the Sultanate affirms the commitment towards enhancing the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. He expressed his hope that the building of the Tanzanian Embassy will be ready in 15 months.
Al Bakri gave a speech during which he highlighted the friendship and co-operation binding the Sultanate and the United Republic of Tanzania, pointing out to the specialty of the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
He added that laying down the Foundation Stone for the Tanzanian Embassy in the Sultanate is a tangible proof for the progress reached by the relations between the countries, affirming that this occasion represents a turning point in the history of the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete laid down the foundation stone for the Embassy in Muscat and unveiling the plaque of the building. — ONA
