MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Qaboos gave audience to President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania at Bait Al Baraka, last evening. His Majesty the Sultan exchanged cordial talks with his guest and the two parties discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the means to enhance them in all fields. A special banquet attended by a number of top officials was held in honour of the guest and his accompanying delegation.
Earlier, a foundation stone for the Embassy of Tanzania in the Sultanate was laid at the Embassies District under the auspices of President Kikwete. The laying down of the foundation stone is a tangible proof for the progress reached by the relations between the countries, affirming that this occasion represents a turning point in the history of the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
The Sultanate and Tanzania also signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding on co-operation in the field of investment promotion and protection, higher education, exchange of documents and archives and the establishment of Omani-Tanzanian Businessmen Council.
