A woman, identified as Yusta Mkali, is said to have been killed by her husband who disappeared after committing the crime.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday morning  at Kawe Kanisani in Dar es Salaam region.
Confirming the incident, Kinondoni Regional Police Commander Camillius Wambiru said preliminary investigations show that the woman was killed during the night.

By midmorning a crowd of people had collected at the house, with shocked neighbours discussing the incident in groups while the body of the slain woman lay in bed in. The police removed the body at around a quarter to ten.

The RPC said it appeared the killer used a sharp object to stab the woman on her neck. The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary facility at Mwananyamala hospital for postmortem and awaiting burial proceedings.

“The suspect who has been identified as Musa,” the police chief indicated, elaborating that he escaped from the surroundings and the police are tracing his whereabouts.

A son of the deceased, Joshua Zebedayo, said she found her mother’s body lying in bed at eight in the morning covered with bed sheets. He removed the bed sheets to look at her mom that’s when he saw blood on her body and realized she was dead.

Zebedayo said that the day before the situation at their home was normal and the couple was cheerful as in other days.

The landlord, Watatu Hadija told this paper that she does not understand whether the couple had fought because she did not hear any shouting or screams nor did anyone else in the neighbourhood.

Hadija said that in the morning a son of the deceased who cleans her parents room found the door locked, thus decided to open it and found his mother seemingly asleep which was   unusual.

After removing the bed sheets covering her he saw she was dead, screamed out of the room in shock, whereupon other people collected at the spot.

Hadija explained that the day before the deceased returned home from work as usual and they had chatted briefly. She said that her relationship with the deceased was more of a mother and daughter relationship because she has been staying there for more than five years. The murdered woman was kind hearted and cheerful, the landlady intoned.

Hassan Kihelelo, one of the neighbors and a former landlord of the suspect revealed the full name of the suspect as Musa O. Senkando, affirming that it is not the suspect had earlier conducted inhuman acts to his wife.

“Last year Musa ferociously beat his late wife at least twice. He beat Yusta with a stool that caused the deceased several injuries on her right hand as she tried to protect herself from him,” he stated.

The deceased and Musa were living together for around four years, on the basis of his recollection.
Neighbors and others familiar with the dead woman were sobbing at the sorrowful incident, as the body of the deceased was being carried by the police.

Yusta Mlaki was employed as a house cleaner with Frontline Porter Novelli, a service provider, operated by Irene Kiwia and based at Manyara Street, Mikocheni in the city.
