MUSCAT — Dr Ahmed bin
Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, signed at the
Ministry’s headquarters yesterday 13 agreements related to roads and land
transport at a cost of RO 535,557,010. The first agreement (RO
135,658,401) with Larsen and Tubro Company is related to the construction of Al
Batinah Express way (fourth package). It starts from the end of the third
package, after Al Hijari road and ends at Wadi Haibi road – 50 km long. The
project includes the construction of two main sectors, seven sub sectors,
flyovers, five bridges and a truck weight station. The second agreement (RO
132,600,000) with Fidrichi Sterling is related to the construction of Al
Batinah Express Way (fifth package).
It starts from the end of the fourth package
after Wadi Haibi road in the wilayat of Sohar and ends in the wilayat of Liwa,
about 41 km.
The
project includes the construction of three main interchanges, three sub
interchanges, flyovers, 3 bridges over the wadi and four truck weight stations.
The third agreement (RO 124 million) with Consolidated Contractors Company
(CCC) is related to the construction of Al Batinah Express Way (sixth package).
It starts from the end of the fifth package in the wilayat of Liwa and ends at
Khatmat Milahah in the wilayat of Shinas to connect current express road with
the existing Al Batinah road and the coastal road, about 45 km. The
project includes the construction of four main interchanges, four secondary
interchanges, flyovers, four wadi bridges and two truck weight stations. The
fourth agreement with First International Projects worth (RO 62,850,000) is related
to the dualization of Mahdha /Al Rawdha road in Al Buraimi Governorate (about
60 km). It includes two asphalt layers at each direction, internal and external
asphalt shoulders and median strip. It includes the construction of four
interchanges.
The
fifth agreement with Strabag Oman worth (RO 46,095,856) is related to the
construction of Sinaw- Mahout, Al Duqm road (second part, about 100 km). The
cross section of the road includes two asphalt lanes at each direction and
external road shoulder. The sixth agreement with Oman Consolidated Contractor
Company worth RO 17,884,403 is related to the construction of a bridge over
Falaj al Qabail roundabout. The seventh agreement (RO 5,500,000) with Best
Infrastructure Developers LLC (BIS) is related to the design and construction
of road junctions at the wilayat of Ibri/ Muqniyat — Maskan in the
Al Dhahirah Governorate. The eighth agreement worth RO 4,836,528 with
Arabian Projects and Transportation Company is related to the design and
construction of Wadi Sal-Ras al Hadd road (48 km) in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani
Bu Ali in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
The
ninth agreement worth RO 3,151,508 with Best Infrastructure Developers LLC
(BIS) is related to the construction of Wadi Mistil road in South Al Batinah
Governorate, second stage 12 km long. The tenth agreement worth RO 850,000 with
Dar al Handasah Company is related to the consultancy services for the
management of the dualisation of Mahdha/Al Rawdha road in the Al Buraimi
Governorate. The eleventh agreement worth RO 784,162 with SEZAI TURKES FEYZI
AKKAYA — Oman, is related to the design and rehabilitation work for the damaged
parts at the Al Rusayl-Nizwa dual carriageway project (from Bidbid to Izki) in
the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The twelfth agreement worth RO 526,150 with
Towers Engineering Consultancy, is related to provision of the consultancy
service for the supervision of the Mahdha-Al Rawdha dual carriageway project in
the Al Buraimi Governorate.
The
thirteenth agreement (RO 820,000) with Arabian Logistics and Contracting
Company is related to the design and construction of camel racetrack in the
Wilayat of Adam in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate (14 km long). The minister
said in a statement that the most important projects are those related to the
packages of the Al Batinah Expressway that will open new horizons for
construction and economic boom at the nearby areas. The term of the Al Batinah
Express Way contracts packages is three years from the date of signing the
contract. Meanwhile, the Tender Board yesterday awarded RO 3,250,641 worth
tenders for the following projects:

Additional works for the design and implementation of Wadi Al Jazeer bridge in
the Wilayat of Sur in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah (RO 2,607,746).
2- Additional works for the provision of consultancy services for the design and supervision on the construction of Al Batinah coastal road (RO 393,986).
3- Additional works for the building of the Directorate General for Roads and Land Transport in the Governorate of Dhofar (RO 127,771).
4- Additional works for the provision of consultancy services for the design and supervision on the construction of the SCADA system building.
5- Additional works for the provision of consultancy services for the building of the Ministry of Tourism (RO 19,625). — ONA
