9th November 2013.
It has been a year since the commencement of registration for individuals to acquire national IDs started in Dar es Salaam.
NIDA said individuals who complete application procedures would be guaranteed their IDs, pointing out that biological identification of finger prints for applicants was well under way in Ilala District after covering three zones out of five.
“NIDA Head of Communication and Documentation Unit Thomas William said the exercise was encouraging…as for now we are going to tackle the fourth zone out of five in Ilala District after an earlier good move in Temeke,” he said.
William, speaking at a news conference in the city, clarified that the authority recognised the presence of individuals who missed the registration phases in their respective areas because of factors.
For that reason NIDA has established offices in various areas to address the problem.
“We have established offices in Kigamboni and Chang’ombe in Temeke District to reach those who failed to register within the set time, besides we will institute offices in Ilala and Kinondoni aiming at putting this service close to people.” William announced.
Besides the offices would be expected to collect and resolve various queries on national IDs and also identify fingerprints.
On young people reaching registration age of 18 years, William said the group would be required to report to the nearest offices countrywide.
NIDA acting Manager Systems Support and Maintenance Mohamed Mashaka said information regarding individuals would be updated every 10 years.
Furthermore, individuals were advised not wear white, blue bleaching or gray clothes, or caps like or marital status or education status and many more.
