Speaking to Khaleej Times, Captain Abdurrahman bin Khater, deputy head of traffic accident department at Sharjah Police, said the accident took place due to over-speeding.
The deceased - an Indian, a Bangladeshi and two Emiratis - were riding in a four-wheel-drive car which lost control and crashed into a heavy truck that was parked on the shoulder due to an engine fault.
The bodies were rushed to the Al Kuwaiti and Al Qasimi hospitals.
Motorists have been urged to follow speed limits and traffic safety laws to avoid such incidents.
