Oman, Tanzania hold talks

MUSCAT — An official talks session was held between the Sultanate and the United Republic of Tanzania at the HQs’ of the Council of Ministers in Muscat yesterday. The Omani side in the talks was led by Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers and Mizengo Pinda, Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, led the Tanzanian side. Pinda conveyed the greetings of Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos along with his best wishes to His Majesty, His government and the Omani people, praising the comprehensive development achieved by the Sultanate under the wise leadership of His Majesty.
At the outset of the meeting Sayyid Fahd welcomed the chief guest and his accompanying delegation. He expressed the Sultanate’s satisfaction with the existing cooperation progress between the two friendly countries and the efforts made to enhance it.
The Omani-Tanzanian talks discussed means of fostering all aspects of bilateral cooperation, activating the existing agreements and urging officials in both countries to complete the remainder agreements, as they will have positive reflection on achieving the interests of both friendly countries, especially in fields, such as agriculture, animal wealth, fisheries, energy resources, ports and others. They also touched on benefiting from the Omani experience in some sectors. Both sides also covered the latest developments on a number of regional and international issues.
The Prime Minister of Tanzania expressed his appreciation and that of his accompanying delegation for visiting the Sultanate and their thanks for the warm hospitality that reflects the strong bilateral relations.
On his part, Sayyid Fahd requested the Prime Minister of Tanzania to convey the greetings of His Majesty the Sultan and best wishes to the Tanzanian president and the government.
From the Omani side, the talks session was attended by the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, the Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, the Minister of Higher Education, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Transport and Communications, the Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and head of the Mission of Honour accompanying the guest, the Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania.
From the Tanzanian side, it was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania. — ONA
