MUSCAT — Mizengo Pinda, Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzanian led a high-level delegation of ministers and officials from his country to the headquarters of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) yesterday as part of his current visit to the Sultanate.
The visitors were received by Salim bin Nasser al Oufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas and senior PDO executives, including Managing Director Raoul Restucci.
The group was given an update on a range of key corporate priorities including health, safety and the environment (HSE), production, project delivery, technology, social investment, training and PDO’s In-Country Value (ICV) strategy to retain more of the industry’s wealth in the Sultanate by creating more jobs and training opportunities for nationals and spurring the growth of Omani businesses.
In addition, there was a live audio visual link-up with the Company’s Lekhwair cluster using the latest Collaborative Work Environment technology which improves productivity, communication and teamwork.
Restucci, who gave an overview of PDO’s operations, said: “We are honoured and delighted to have received such an eminent delegation from Tanzania and we are hoping this visit has helped build on the historic ties between the two friendly countries and provide a platform for beneficial co-operation between the Sultanate’s oil and gas sector and the emerging one in Tanzania.”
During the visit, the Tanzanian Prime Minister was accompanied from the Omani side by Dr. Fu’ad bin Ja’afar al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Head of the Mission of Honour and Saud bin Ali al Raqishi, Sultanate’s accredited Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania. He was accompanied from the Tanzanian side by Eng. Christopher Chiza, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Titus Kamani, Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Ali Juma Shamhuna, Minister of Education and Vocational Training in Zanzibar, Charles Tizeba, Deputy Minister of Transport, Charles Kitwanga, Deputy Minister of State in the Vice- President’s Office for Environment.
