Brother duo executes ‘honour killing’ in Dubai

Amira Agarib/Principal Correspondent / 15 December 2014

  • They strangle cabbie to death as the family was embarrassed by the marriage of their sister to him; one arrested.

The Dubai Police have arrested a Pakistani national (A.A.) and are chasing his brother (F.A.) for allegedly strangling a Dubai taxi driver to death in a case of honour killing because he married their sister without the consent of the family.
The family was embarrassed by the marriage of their daughter to the taxi driver and her father and brothers met in Pakistan and allegedly conspired to kill the victim.
As per the plan, the two brothers came back to Dubai and lured the cabbie to a deserted area and killed him on November 29.
The police were alerted by the taxi company about the cabbie’s murder in a sandy area behind residential towers in Al Satwa area in Dubai.
On arrival at the scene, the Criminal Investigation Department team saw a taxi under the trees and found a body lying between the front and back seats and a plastic wire and two gloves thrown near the car.
The police investigation showed the body belonged to the 31-year-old M.S.
The victim’s brother told the police that he suspected A.A. who worked for a car rental office and his brother who worked as a taxi driver because they held a grudge against M.S. for marrying their sister in May 2014 without their consent.
He told the police that his brother called him around 5.30pm on November 29.
When he called him again later, M.S. did not answer the phone.
His taxi company which used the GPS to search for the driver after he did not come back found him dead inside the car.
The autopsy showed that the plastic wire, which is usually used for tying pipes together, was used to strangle the victim.
The police arrested A.A after laying a trap and raided his room in the neighbourhood.
The suspect told the police he and his brother (F.A.) planned the murder as ordered by their family back home.
They lured M.S. to the area. F.A. beat him up and strangled him on the sand and both of them dragged the body inside the car.

The police have referred the suspect to the Dubai Public Prosecution and are still on the hunt for the fugitive brother.
