UAE: Toddler crushed to death by car with father at wheel

Father did not notice him crawling under the vehicle in front of his house in Al Taween neighbourhood in Fujairah. 

A two-year-old Emirati boy was crushed to death under the wheels of the family car as his father who was at the wheel did not notice him crawling under the vehicle in front of his house in Al Taween neighbourhood in Fujairah on Saturday.
The Fujairah Police were alerted that a toddler was run over around 9am. Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the boy to Dibba Fujairah Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police report said the boy breathed his last on arrival at the hospital as he had sustained deep wounds in the head.
The boy’s father told the police during interrogation that his son followed him when he went out of the house. He got inside the car and started it not knowing the child had followed him. He said their housemaid saw the child running towards the car but did not stop him as she thought he would accompany his father in the journey.

The Public Prosecution, which was notified, allowed the burial of the body. Police are still investigating the incident.
