VARIOUS innovative products introduced by Zantel in Zanzibar allow customers to buy electricity and other products online and have transformed many people’s lives.
In a statement to mark the end of a three months promotional lottery dubbed ‘Recharge and Win,’ on Friday, the company said its innovative products also allowed subscribers to win prizes for using its services.
“This has added meaning to the quality of life to the Zanzibaris as they are able to communicate not only among themselves, but also with the rest of the world,” the statement said.
Zantel is also a key partner in the renowned healthy baby healthy mother text messaging service, a Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Tanzania and CDC Foundation Programme.
“Zantel has also been awarded for its participation and commitment in the formation of alliance of Malaria Safe Companies in Tanzania, a programme that works with employees, families and communities to control Malaria,” the statement added.Under the promotion which was only involving Zanzibar clients, refrigerators and airtime were given to lucky winners. Zantel Government Relation and Support Coordinator, Mohamed Mussa thanked subscribers for choosing the network that is focused simultaneously on providing affordable, quality and reliable services.
“We would like to congratulate all our winners and we believe we have provided them with a tool that will enhance their quality of life and thus help them to contribute positively in their communities,” Mr Mussa said after presenting the refrigerator to Ikirima Mattar Nassor.
“The recharge and win promotion has ended, however, I urge our customers to continue enjoying our products and services as we are the most affordable network in the country,” added Mussa.
Speaking after receiving his refrigerator, Mr Nassor (54) of Old Stone Town, commended the mobile phone service company for the promotion which enabled him win the fridge.
“I knew about the promotion but I never took it seriously as I recharged my account as part of my normal routine. I did not believe that I had won a refrigerator, I thank Zantel as I never thought that one day I would win,” he said.
Zantel is part of the Etisalat Group and was started in 1999 in Zanzibar with mainland operations starting 2005. Based in Abu Dhabi, Etisalat Group is one of the world’s leading telecom groups in emerging markets.
Zantel is a joint venture between Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (ETISALAT) which owns 85 per cent and Zanzibar government owns 15 per cent.
