Some 5.3bn/- up for grabs by Airtel Money customers

AIRTEL Tanzania announced the distribution of over 5bn/- to its active Airtel mobile money customers and agents across the country. The move to distribute the interest accumulated in Airtel Money trust account will enable active Airtel Customers to receive a substantial amount of money.

The amount paid to Airtel Money customers is based on their end of day balance available in Airtel Money accounts for the entire period from March 2014 to April 2015. Airtel Money Business Enterprises Manager, Mr Asupya Nalingigwa, said .

“We are very excited to be announcing this distribution to our Airtel Money customers across the country following the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) approval to distribute the interest that Airtel Money has accumulated in the Trust Account.”

He further explained that, every Airtel Money customer will receive a portion of interest based on their Airtel Money account balances every day.

“We believe the interest utilisation will play a big role in improving the lives of many and encourage the unbanked population to use Airtel mobile banking services for their day to day transaction as well as save their money to earn interest regardless of their locality,” added Mr Nalingigwa.
