- He threw thousands of banknotes from the roof of a building.
According to Coconuts.co, the stunt was a bid to promote Wong's cryptocurrency project. The stunt involved an associate of his showering the street with a sizable amount of Hong Kong dollars. The 'money shower' took place in Sham Sui Po - one of the country's poorer districts. The act caused chaos and police arrested Wong the following day for disturbing the peace.
Police nabbed him after he returned to the district handing out money and restaurant vouchers. Wong admitted to the public disturbance charge in court. He said that he had illegally blocked the road with two cars. His lawyer said the money-throwing stunt was just to promote his business, and that Wong was not aware that it would cause a disturbance.
In the now-viral stunt video, Wong can be heard saying: "I wonder if you guys have ever imagined that there will be a day when money can fall from the sky." After saying this, money starts raining down from the roof of an apartment building. Over 300 people rushed to get their hands on the cash that was falling out of the sky.
The court ruled that the offense wasn't serious but also noted that it caused a disturbance. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
