- Besides Canada, it is reported that Slovenia is also looking for workers.
After the agreement, deployment of Filipino workers to Canada will begin, GMA News Online reports.
The announcement comes after it was reported that Canada is in need of more than 2,000 skilled and semi-skilled foreign workers, according to a report by JP Soriano on news show State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Thursday.
"There is already an agreement, it will be a government-to-government track and we are preparing and finalising the bilateral labor agreement. Then, we will be ready to start the deployment," said Bernard Olalia, administrator of the POEA.
Besides Canada, it is reported that there is a need of 2,000 to 5,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers in Slovenia as well. Filipino workers can get a salary up to $1,000 or P50,000 to P75,000 per month.
The POEA said that while the agreement is being ironed out, interested applicants should monitor its website for the job orders and prepare their passports and training certifications. The POEA said chances of getting hired in Canada and Slovenia are higher for those who have job experiences locally.
