Firefighters save man's house, apologise for drinking milk!

  • They opened the fridge and took some milk as they had not eaten anything since midday.
Hungry firefighters in Australia, who saved a man's house from the worst bushfires in decades, left him a heartwarming note apologising for consuming milk from his fridge.

The handwritten note was signed by the Urunga Rural Fire Service and read: 'It was our pleasure to save your house. Sorry that we could not save your sheds. P.S. - we owe you some milk'. When the owner of the house, Paul Sekfy, of New South Wales, returned he was touched by the note left behind.
Sekfy decided to post the handwritten note on Facebook along with a caption: 'The best note on my kitchen bench since the morning after my wedding'.

Firefighter Hardie-Porter, who was a part of the team sent to an area near Macksville in New South Wales, said they opened the fridge and took some milk as they had not eaten anything since midday, CNN reported. Hardie-Porter also responded to Sekfy's Facebook post and wrote: 'We took refuge in your house for a moment and that's when we discovered the fridge', reported ABC News.

Sekfy said that the firefighters also ate some cheese and peanut butter, but he doesn't mind. "They don't have to pay back the milk," said Sekfy, who told CNN he is now living in a motel as his house is uninhabitable.

In the aftermath of the bushfires, Australian authorities said there are reports of property damage and injuries throughout New South Wales, but have not confirmed the exact extent.
