House of Wonder Collapses (by an unknown author)
House of Wonders convey the cultural and architectural influences of Zanzibar, Britain, Portugal, and Oman over the centuries. The House of Wonders was once the most modern building in East Africa—it was the first building to have electricity and an elevator—and it mixes elements of European style and Zanzibari tradition by including cast iron columns, elaborate door carvings, coral rag, open central courtyards, and mangrove ceilings that together form a truly unique architectural achievement. The palace was built in the Omani style as an extravagant Arab mansion, and holds many relics that offer a rare glimpse of a past era. The House of Wonders has fallen down the glory which he had all this time , very sad indeed , our icon has been damaged and today’s dramatic pictures shows the real damage around the building.
Our Heritage had fallen down ........ we cry with you to this sad day we mourn with our heritage on this Christmas Day.
The footage of this afternoon shows the real damage captured by my drone , this gives the tribute to the icon of Zanzibar .
