ZANZIBARIS IN CANADA HAVE COME OUT WITH A GENIUS JANAZAH PROGRAM!

Zanzibaris living in the province of Ontario in Canada have come out with a program to help each other when one of them loses a dear one.

Other communities in Ontario have similar programs and for the Zanzibar community to join the bandwagon is indeed a  step in the right direction.

The Abu Ubaydah Islamic Center - the brainchild of ZANCANA (the Zanzibar-Canadian Association) is the Centre that is spearheading the program in Toronto.

As we all know, burial consists of multiple steps, each of which can add complexities for the grieving family. The sole aim of this program is to help a bereaved family to reduce these complexities by taking over the whole process of burial from the family.

The Abu Ubaydah program is known as Janazah Support System. This is a membership based program and in the website of the Centre, it is stated that..." Once you are successfully registered, you will have your online wallet attached to your account. This wallet will be used to keep your contributions whenever you top up money to credit your account. When we have Janazah service, we will take your contribution of $25 toward this Janazah and use it, then we will send an email or SMS to each member to top up their wallets the amount that has been taken. The minimum amount each wallet should have is $50".

The ingenuity of this program lies in the fact that once one is bereaved, the program will automatically take care of all the steps leading to the burial of the deceased.

The program is open not only to Zanzibaris but to all Muslim families residing in the province of Ontario.

To lose one's loved one is something that no one wishes, but it is inevitable and cannot be avoided. Death is an absolute certainty of all created life. Knowing that your dear one will be properly laid to rest and that you will have no financial headaches after that, will definitely make one cope with grief in a better way.

The program entails that there is a non-refundable one time registration fee of $100 for individual and family. A wallet must be kept at least with a mimimum amount of $50. Whenever there is Janazah $25 will automatically be taken from your wallet and therefore whenever your wallet is below $50 you will need to top it up.

We at ZanzibarNiKwetu, do say from the bottom of our hearts ahsanteni sana to those who are managing this program. This is not only helping each other when death sadly befalls a family, but when you help in the Janazah of someone who passed away, you are definitely investing in your own hereafter.
