Inside A $400 Million Los Angeles MegamansionSimon Berlyn
At more than 70,000 square feet, the Southern California mega-mansion took over ten years and $350 million to complete, with construction wrapping up in 2018. “This estate was built with a vision that goes far beyond traditional luxury,” Fahimian tells ELLE Decor. “Time and budget were not a factor when constructing this.”

Designed by ELLE Decor A-List Titan Peter Marino and built by Peter McCoy, the eight-acre estate features 39 bedrooms and multiple kitchens across a Mediterranean-style main residence and guest house. On the grounds, you’ll also find three swimming pools, a pool house, a tennis court, a tennis pavilion, and a hammam. Fahimian told the WSJ he estimated the guest house alone—which includes six bedrooms, staff quarters, a chef’s kitchen, a gym, and an outdoor pool—was worth $75 million.
The hammam is a particular highlight of the grounds: Inside is a resort-style spa with separate sections for men and women. There’s also a fully outfitted salon and a gym complete with a pilates studio. Rounding out the lower level is an at-home movie theater.

Among the uncommon perks are safe rooms, art storage space, and even an X-ray machine. (The listing agents explained the previous owner used the tech to take doctor’s appointments from their home.) Throw in the ocean, city, and canyon views, and you’ve got yourself a $400 million listing.
“From the positioning of the land to the level of detail in every finish, [the home] delivers a fully self-sustained lifestyle that surpasses the finest resorts in the world, yet with complete privacy and exclusivity,” Fahimian says.

Per the WSJ, the home is “owned by an entity tied to Qatar’s ruling Al-Thani family.” This particular mansion was just one part of the family’s portfolio of luxury home, which include residences in London and New York. The Al-Thani family did not respond to the outlet for comment.
