Hyatt will open its first hotel on the East African island of Zanzibar in March 2015.
One is Mambo Msiige, a typical Zanzibari mansion that is a UNESCO heritage building with roots dating back to the 17th century. The hotel’s new purpose-built Zamani Residence will connect to Mambo Msiige.
The property will feature more than 160sqm of flexible meeting and event space that will be able to accommodate anything from discrete board meetings to state functions. Other facilities will include the Anantara Spa, offering body treatments, massages and a hair salon, an oceanfront infinity pool and a fitness centre.
The Zamani Residence will have a library with veranda, a living room and a dining room with an outdoor terrace and a residential-style kitchen, allowing guests to dine in a variety of different spaces. The hotel’s pool lounge will specialise in local fish dishes complemented with western sandwiches and salads.
