AHADI: Graduates promised loans to form, run own firms

IN a move aimed at addressing unemployment among graduates in Tanzania, CCM government will start issuing loans to enable such graduates establish and run their business ventures.

CCM Union presidential flag bearer, Dr John Magufuli, told the mammoth crowd, which attended his campaign rally here yesterday that the move will help address the unemployment problem.

“Our colleges produce a big number of graduates but still we have limited employment opportunities. Starting next year, if I win the polls next month, my government will come up with a special programme to help such graduates have their own companies ... this is possible and will help address this problem,” he noted.

Dr Magufuli also directed that the Iringa-based national milling company should revive operations immediately or else the government will repossess it once in power if elected.

He pledged that under his leadership, a number of factories in Iringa and other parts of the country will be revived, insisting that the current unemployment rate could only be addressed through having more factories.

Dr Magufuli also promised to improve the Iringa Airport by constructing runways at tarmac level so that it could handle more flights. He said that due to its prominent and endowed geographical position, Iringa Region would under his leadership be transformed into a tourist hub.

He also promised to construct 10- km road at tarmac level within Iringa municipality. On the other hand, Dr Magufuli asked Iringa residents to ensure that they elect Iringa urban parliamentary aspirant Frederick Mwakalebela, describing him as a man of high integrity who can truly represent them.

As Dr Magufuli called Mr Mwakalebela on the stage, CCM supporters who attended the rally chanted, “we want our constituency ... we want our constituency”. He said that Mr Mwakalebela was such a tolerant and humble candidate, recalling the 2010 primaries when his victory was nullified but still remained loyal to the party. “This man had his name axed though he won the 2010 preferential polls; he did not defect, he remained loyal.

He is now a district commissioner (DC); this is due to his loyalty, integrity and hardworking,” Dr Magufuli said, adding that the candidate was worth electing. Mr Mwakalebela assured Dr Magufuli that in collaboration with his team, he was going to ensure that he garners many votes from Iringa Region. He called on the residents to team up and elect CCM, insisting that the party has a clear manifesto, which is realistic.

Hundreds of Iringa residents flocked the Samora Grounds as early as 11 am, looking lively and elegant in green and yellow CCM colours. They sang, danced and cheered and as time ticked by, the crowds grew even bigger despite the scorching sun.

As he entered the grounds, the cheerful-looking Magufuli untiringly waved to the cheering crowds that kept on chanting the popular candidate’s slogan, ‘hapa kazi tu’.

Earlier, when addressing Ifunda residents in Kalenga constituency, Dr Magufuli said that in his campaigns he will not use abusive language against any political party. He affirmed that he needed votes from all people regardless of their political ideologies as he focused on building a united Tanzania.

He reminded the people that it was high time they stayed away from hate speeches that are meant to divide them and ensure that they go to polls united and focused. Dr Magufuli insisted the need of preaching peace, unity and love as the elements were very important in realising development plans stipulated in the party’s election manifesto.

In Kilolo constituency, the candidate asked the residents to vote for CCM as it had laid down clear strategies to help farmers by providing them with subsidised agricultural inputs. He told the residents that if he is elected the fifth president, he will ensure that more processing factories are built to add value to their agricultural produce.
