Kikwete seals CCM Isles campaign with plea to re-elect Shein!

THE prevailing peace and stability in the country and promising economic growth are some of the clear indications for the re-election of CCM, both in Zanzibar and on the Mainland, President Jakaya Kikwete said.

“Dr Ali Mohamed Shein (President of Zanzibar) has done a tremendous job in developing the islands, including ensuring better health services, putting in place a good road network and widening democracy,” Mr Kikwete said as he asked voters in Pemba to re-elect Dr Shein because he has proved to be a hardworking man.

He told thousands of CCM members and supporters at the Gombani-ya-Kale Grounds in Chakechake District that Dr Shein has also proved to be a man of the people by working with the opposition in the Government of National Unity (GNU).

It was the last public campaign rally by CCM in Pemba before the Sunday polls. Mr Kikwete told cheering fans in Pemba that CCM party made the correct decision to approve Dr Magufuli for the Union presidency because he met all the qualifications, including being an honest and hardworking person. The outgoing Union president said people should not worry about security during election day, insisting that “the government remains on full alert to make sure that the whole elections are violent free.

If there are people planning to cause chaos in the country, let them try; we will respond accordingly”.

Dr Shein also asked voters on Pemba Island to elect him, promising that they will continue to witness social, political and economical development, including strengthening the union between Zanzibar and Tanganyika.

Zanzibar Second Vice-President, Ambassador Seif Ali Iddi, asked Zanzibaris to vote for Dr Magufuli and Dr Shein and also accused the opposition of using hate speech and instigating violence.
